Service-learning flourishes in Central and Eastern Europe

During these two years, CLAYSS has offered its Support Program to different Universities, collaborated in the training for teachers of different levels, produced some publications in collaboration with other regional partners, had the participation of some colleagues from Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania and Romania in the last International Service-Learning Conferences in Buenos Aires, we have carried out several onsite dissemination activities open to the community in Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Austria, and above all we continue to work on the exchange between different actors from different countries.
Within this framework, new initiatives from the region are beginning to appear as a project of Erasmus Plus (European Union) whereby universities from 5 countries are working together on the development of on-site modules and bibliography to promote the development of service-learning in higher education; MIOS, the Bosnian organization that was in charge of the organization of the 1st. Service-Learning Regional Week in Central and Eastern Europe shared with us a Bosnian-language subtitled version of some Latin American experiences; and above all organizations, schools and universities in the region are aware of the importance of building a network for a regional movement that develops and promotes service-learning projects, including the launching of national projects to promote this theme in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, based on the presentation of projects arising from these meetings.
We would like to congratulate all those who are working with us for the expansion of service-learning in the region.
