CLAYSS at the II JONASS in Peru

On Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 November the Second National Conference on Learning and Solidarity Service was held in Lima (Peru). The meeting took place at the Universidad del Pacífico, which, from its Center for Leadership, Ethics and Social Responsibility (CLERS-UP), participated in the organization of the meeting along with the Latin American Center for Solidarity Service-Learning, the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University (UARM), the Fe y Alegría movement of Peru, and the Union of Latin American University Social Responsibility (URSULA).
The II JONASS Lima 2018, counted with the Inaugural Conference of Professor Nieves Tapia (see video), who highlighted the central aspects of Service-Learning, the strategic importance of implementing it in the different educational levels in Peru, and presented a vast series of experiences in different countries, contexts and levels.
Within the framework of the JONASS, a panel was held on the role of solidarity in public education policies (see video), with the participation of the Director of Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education of Peru, María Isabel Curay Criollo, the Specialist of the Alternative Basic Education Directorate of the same Ministry, Mario Gordillo, and the Director of Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher University Education of the National System of Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Educational Quality of Peru, Javier Teobaldo Díaz Lazo.
The Peruvian experiences of service-learning were also present in the inaugural panel of the second morning of the JONASS, in which Professor Lidio Muñoz Vasquez, Academic Director of "Faith and Joy 69" of Cutervo, Cajamarca; Dr. Teobaldo Díaz Lazo, Director of the National System of Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Educational Quality of Peru, Dr. Teobaldo Díaz Lazo. Renata Bregaglio, Professor of the Legal Clinic and Social Responsibility at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú; Professor Oscar Fusch, Professor at the Universidad Peruana de las Américas; and Dr. María Ángela Prialé, Professor at the Universidad del Pacífico (see video).
The agenda of the JONNAS Lima 2018, in the afternoons of November 13 and 14, had proposals for eminently practical workshops, differentiated by educational level, which guided the participants in the recognition of the relevant aspects of service-learning, and in the elaboration of concrete projects to implement such pedagogy.
During the meeting, CLAYSS gave the participants the Guide for Developing Service Learning Projects - Peru Edition (in spanish), also available free of charge in digital version in the CLAYSS library.
