CLAYSS in Singapore
The 7th Congress of the Asian Service-Learning Network (SLAN) was held at the University of Social Sciences in Singapore from 19 to 21 June. The Director of CLAYSS, Nieves Tapia, was invited to participate as a speaker in two of the plenary sessions of the Conference, and to develop one of the simultaneous workshops.
The Conference was attended by 366 participants from 17 countries, 150 of whom made presentations. It was an opportunity to see the breadth, variety and vitality of service-learning developments in the Asia-Pacific region, and to generate valuable new contacts with the service-learning community in Asia. The Latin American experience presented by Nieves Tapia was received with enthusiasm, and possible alternatives for collaboration between the Asian Network and the Ibero-American Service-Learning Network were proposed.
