V Service-Learning Researchers Symposium

 

The fifth edition of the Service-Learning Researchers Symposium was held on August 28 at the Centro de Altos Estudios Universitarios (CAEU - OEI Argentina).
The inaugural session was led by Luis Scasso, from the Centro de Altos Estudios Universitarios-OEI, María Alejandra Herrero, President of the Academic Committee of the Symposium and Enrique Ochoa, CLAYSS Executive Director.
The keynote speech of Dr. Andrew Furco, founding member of the Association gave with its concepts and challenges, the framework for the whole day and in particular for the group work in the afternoon workshops, after the oral presentations and E Posters.
Afterwards, a plenary session was held with the selection of outstanding works by the Academic Committee. Participants: Sebastián Vidal Kaulen. Universidad Católica Silva Henriquez, Chile (section 1); María Rosa Tapia. UBA/CLAYSS, Argentina (Section 2); Karla Díaz and Nascira Ramia. Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador (Section 2); Rocío Fontana Venegas. University of Chile, Chile (Section 2); Marcelo Ganzale Martins de Castro. Instituto Singularidade, Brazil (Section 3); Alejandro Torres Flores. Universidad Central de Chile, Chile (Section 3). This space was moderated by Prof. Maria Nieves Tapia, CLAYSS Director.


68 papers were received for the Symposium, 45 were approved by peer review and  presented orally or on posters at different times in the morning and afternoon. A total of 115 people who are developing research related to service-learning or participating in solidarity educational experiences in their institutions participated, 80 of the attendees were from other countries in Latin America, North America and Europe.
