the Iberian-American Service-Learning NetworK's Meeting
In this meeting, more than 40 representatives of the organizations involved in the Iberian-American Service-Learning Network came to CLAYSS offices to share the development of service-learning in their countries and exchange ideas about actions, projects, and challenges.
At the beginning of the meeting, CLAYSS reviewed the activity from 2011-2012 and presented proposals for development in 2013-2014. The representative from the Central University of Venezuela proposed hosting the first Iberian-American Service-Learning Fair, highlighting student community service practices and photos of service-learning projects. After hearing this proposal, there was a videoconference where Kelita Bak, Director of NYLC y Silvia Golombek, Vice-President of Youth Service America talked about the reality of their organization and service-learning in the United States. The Chilean Service-Learning Network explained the ways service-learning was present in their universities and also what is in store for the future with schools and other organizations. Rafael Mendía Gallardo (Zerbikas Foundation) and Roser Batlle (Service-Learning Promoting Center in Catalonia) talked about the growth and development of the Spanish Service-Learning Network.
